How I Bring Ideas into Form

I get a lot of ideas, like really a lot of ideas. Not all of them are brilliant, not all of them are meant for me to do, or do right now, and not all of them are the best use of my time, energetic and financial resources. But I have a process to discern that, because initially all of my ideas seem brilliant. But I can't possibly bring them all into form, nor should I. So in this newsletter I am going to share with you my process for discerning, and then moving forward if that is what is coming through me. I will also share with you on FB Live in my group a creative practice to really, really get to the essence of whether your idea is one you want to pursue, and then begin to form it into something tangible. Details for the mini-class will be at the end of the newsletter. I am also going to share a practice to creatively have an "idea tree or jar", a physical place where all of your ideas are stored so you do not forget them, or when you feel uninspired you can go pull from.

I decided to share this process with you all, because for me at least any new idea that comes dropping in, will need to marinate and rest until I create my Jan-Mar 2020 calendar. I already have the rest of 2019 laid out, and with very few exceptions no new ideas will be going out into the world. It would need to be something that really sets my hair on fire to bring something else into form this year. For me bringing ideas into what you see on my calendar, and what you attend when you come to my class, is quite a process, some of which I will share here, and some processes for creating classes and workshops will be shared in a masterclass I am offering. But for now, unless its a simple, no-brainer idea, or something super potent in response to something my students and clients are asking for:

All Ideas are Going in the Idea Jar

Part of the reason for that is also where we are in the seasonal turns of the wheel, and my process of honoring the cycles of nature and my own rhythms. We are moving into the Autumnal Equinox, a time to celebrate what we are harvesting from bringing our past ideas into form, its also a call to look at re-balancing energies, bringing together structure and fluidity in order to be in flow, and lastly to put those seed ideas into the ground for over-wintering in preparation for next spring's sprouts and blooms. Because after the Equinox we begin to go dark, the veils between the worlds get thinner, and by the time the Winter Solstice arrives it is an invitation I gladly accept to go "dark" go internal, be in empty presence, bring the light to my inner landscape, and to my love relationships, and just wait for Divine information to appear to me. And I do this into January, and I honor this time, I look forward to this time every year, as it is really when I am just in allowance. So for me, all the "idea" workings for mid-Jan are already in some stage of bringing out, so I can take this time for myself and my family.

So now, for my process of deciding whether an idea is worthy of pursuing AND a small part of my practice of bringing it into form. This process includes a creative practice which I will share in my group (see below for link, date, and time), the inquiries below are meant to go along with the creative process, that part of the process is truly necessary in order for you to step out of the logical mind, and bring your ideas in first through the creative mind (right brain) then through the logical mind (left brain) where they meet together in the heart and womb-mind (body and energy system). Without the creative practice, you are only using your logical mind, trying to "figure out" the how-to's before you even get clear as to the passion and inspiration behind the idea. When we bring our ideas into form just using our logical mind, they are often flat and uninspired, or become another thing on your to-do list. Or the intent is not as powerful and therefore your audience and beloveds aren't "feeling it."

  • Idea drops in- do I feel it in my body yet? If not, slow down, breath, and see if I feel it, where I feel it, and what the sensations are.

  • Note it down if I can't work with it in the moment...or either then or later

  • Write down the idea as its formed in the moment (sometimes ideas come in fully formed, some are fragments that I am sure I understand yet. Use colored markers, pens, pencils in an art journal.

  • Close your eyes, breath, say the idea out loud, and check in with your body again, if it's a hell yes, keep on exploring, if it's an I am not sure, let it sit for a while, and if cannot stop thinking about it come back to it in a few days. If it's a no, you can still put it in the idea jar and see if it's right at a later time.

  • Then tap into your heart and ask if this idea is in your heart and soul desires, is it part of your sacred assignment. Journal the answer or follow the art process.

  • How much time, energetic and financial resources will this take?

  • What if any resistance do I feel around bringing this idea out into the world?

  • Is this mine to do?

  • If this is an idea for business, is this something you feel your beloveds are wanting, needing, is this something in response to what you have been hearing or feeling in the collective?

  • Is this something you really want, do you feel it deeply that it is something you want to bring into form, now? Is it something YOU CAN NOT DO?

Once you get clear and discern that your idea is one you want to put the deeper level of thought, work, and rhythmic action into, you can begin to tap into the left brain and start outlining out the hows and the whats. I will show this process more deeply in the Live video. To join me live on September 4th 1PM MDT in the Amused Woman Circle group, join below.
